Nieces and Nephews... only a Nephew?!

So in May of this year I became an aunt and am so excited about it! It is a pretty cute situation but Linc is one in a million, the kid is a keeper for sure!

Kat looked awesome for her wedding, so so excited for her and Brandon.

Torn a little more...

So this past week I have been bracing my arm due to the fact that I tore my rotator cuff for a second time in three months. I know what accident prone is but crap give me a break! I find out in two weeks if I have to have surgery, how do I time this though with basketball coaching and work... not to mention I have just enrolled in next semester at UVU. Getting a substitute for my classes will be a joke, not to mention my students know exactly how to "abuse" getting out of their work. Lol, but in all seriousness I have figured if worse comes to worse, Christmas Break works?!

Pie Crust Freakouts!

I don't know what it is about pie crust but everyone seems to love it except for me that is. Today I had the pleasure of eating a large portion of a pumpkin pie while teaching class and I am very vocal about the fact that I hate pie crust. Anyways, one of my students saw that I had a large portion of crust left over and was about to throw it away. The student had a large melt down about it and was freaking out over the garbage can due to the fact that I had just thrown away the best treat ever. This made my day a little more hilarious.

The Election...

Catching Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor in a large college had some
exchange students in the class. One day while the class was
in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange
student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The
student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He ha been
shot while fighting communists in his native country who
were trying to overthrow his country's government and
install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and
asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to
catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch
line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch
wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn
on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat
the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put
a fence down one side of the place where they are used to
coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn
again and you put up another side of the fence. They get
used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have
all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side.
The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through
the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole
herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run
around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.
Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to
it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for
themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what
he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing
us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in
the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit
for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies,
payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc..
While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free
lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for
you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government
'help' is a problem confronting the future of
democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends.
If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then
you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the
gate slams shut!

In this 'very important' election year, listen closely to
what the candidates are promising you !! Just maybe you
will be able to tell who is about to slam the gate on
America .

'A government big enough to give you
everything you want, is big enough to take away everything
you have.'

Goodbyes...

So last night I got a call from my mother informing me that my Aunt Diane had just passed away. I was playing basketball with Erin and just broke down, I felt like a little piece of my heart had been ripped out. I mean to say it the simplest way that I can, Diane was one of the most amazing people I have ever known in my life. She married my mom's brother over 15 years ago and had been dealing with MS for most of her adult life. This was my uncle's fifth marriage and also the best. She was not only a strong member of the church but a strong believer in living life to the fullest. I am grateful I had the opportunity to see her one last time before she passed away this last August. She had deteriorated so fast that she no longer looked the same, in the past year her life did a total 180. She lost the ability to even walk or remotely take care of herself, and it absolutely broke my heart. When talking to her this last visit, she said she was tired of this trial but was grateful that the Lord had allowed her to have it. She is the only person that could say it quite that way. My poor uncle who I am also close with, is more heart broken I suppose because he lost his sweetheart but he is so grateful to have had her in his life as well. I will honestly say that I will miss this sweet lady more than anything else in the world. However, the way that life works is that you must always try to be as optimistic in even the most pessimistic of situations. She always did that, I will love and miss you dearly Diane, and thank you for letting me love and know you.

Halloween

So I will give Kristin credit for making me want to start a blog. Totally random but hilarious at the same time. Today is Halloween and for some reason I really think that this is one of the worst days of the year. When you are little sure, dress up but when you start being an adult and can't trick or treat anymore what exactly is the point?! Seriously, dressing up and feeling gross all day long is not something I particularly want to participate in. My class is sitting here in total darkness engrossed in Tim Burton's movie The Corpse Bride. One of my all time favorites too.
